With Carson's closing, I don't see the Loop store lasting very long after Macy's slimes into town. But, Chicagoans will not go quietly this time. Check out this article in The Trib http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-0609050029sep05,1,718293.story?ctrack=1&cset=true
I went to Fields this weekend for some back-to-school shopping. The register lady was all "be sure to come back next weekend for our Macy's grand opening!" And I was all "no, I'll be staying home mourning the death of Field's." I don't think she understood.

May I remind you, that unlike Marshall Fields, Macy's will produce the beloved Frango in you hometown? Does that help even a little?

I was so hoping they would leave the State St. store alone - - it's a sad, sad day when there are no Marshall Field's in Chicago....
I read that article on Dress a Day, too, and thought of you (and your ensuing outrage). I remember your last article about the Macy's anouncement. ;)
